Mental Health and Preventing Burnout

Mental health absence rates increased pre and during the pandemic costing the business with loss of productivity, salary, and attrition.

Vicky designed a strategy addressing the challenges, educated managers and employees to increase their resilience and knowledge about how to reduce stress, spot the signs in others, and manage issues when they occurred.

Vicky created a wellbeing guidance policy, worked with the coms team sharing tip to manage stress, established a mental health committee to support HR.

Passionate mental health champions from business areas shared ideas, and promoted signposting to the trained Mental Health First Aider team, Employee Assistant and CBT support.

After monitoring the metrics, Vicky noted a reduction in long term absence and occurrences.

“Vicky’s passion and enthusiasm in wanting to break the mental health stigma is what led me to volunteer as co-chair the committee.

Vicky was passionate about making sure we had the right support in place and wanted to make sure we had Mental Health First Aiders trained and available to support colleagues across the business. With her training experience she ensured that colleagues and managers across the business could enhance their knowledge of mental health and wellbeing and be confidently help, listen, and support each other.

I can confidently say that it is with Vicky’s passion and determination to break the stigma and to get everyone at BNP Paribas talking more openly about Mental Health and Wellbeing that this is now part of our culture.”
